Craft Cheese Moments

So this past weekend, myself and fellow DC comic Eli Sairs were granted the amazing opportunity to open for Maria Bamford, one of my all-time favorites in the following categories: comedic inspirations, life role models, and human creativity beans.

Oh and by the way, I have met her briefly before, but after getting to spend a bit more time with her, I can reconfirm a bajillion-fold that she's a dream come true in person. Case in point, she owns Barack Obama earrings, and was in fact wearing them for the Saturday night show. She wore her First Family pin on Friday night.

I wish I could go on and on about how awesome and incredible the whole weekend was, but gushing sap trees aren't the best bloggers, so I merely present this photo as evidence that the events actually happened. It's blurry and dubious, but it's just cellphony in reality.

Suffice it to say I am inspired and content beyond belief. It's like my brain got seriously bedazzled.

In random conclusion, my mother was on a cleaning frenzy today and recovered some of my art work. This is a family portrait entitled, "You Are What You Eat." The members in the photo from left to right are my father (as a cup of tea), my mother (as a banana), my sister (as a noodle) and myself (as a mango).
My absolute favorite thing about this drawing is that I made it a mere 7 years ago, putting me at college age. How appropriate.

Art Does a Better Impression of Life Than Life Itself 2.0

More Orange Art:
Do you want to know how I got these scars?

Trendy, Fun Place I Found with Alex to Eat Trendy, Fun Yogurt:

Oh, also I have a white fleck on one of my fingernails, which I haven't had since childhood. Great, I have scurvy. Time to eat artwork and stop traveling on boats for three-plus months at a time. Even if it is a cruise line. Even if!

Why Kidz Rule & Grown-Upz Drool

A PHOTO ESSAY (all artwork courtesy of the Children's School in DC)

They chant things like this...

They create things like this...

They name their artwork almost too well...(Yes, that says "Mrs. Oprah Winfrey")

I rest my (brief)case.

One Reason Why Office Doors Exist

Today I stood up and danced while I did some of my work. Not small moves either. Really big full-body type actions wherein I was getting some kind of point across, though I'm still not exactly sure what it was. It was techno music if that helps the mental picture at all.

But guess what? The dancing helped.

(Don't roll your eyes at me!)

No significant incidents occurred except that my headphones flew off my head at one point, but that was to be expected seeing as how they were plugged into the computer's hard drive.

Here we go now, here we go now...

Also this...

The statue right outside the National Community Pharmacists Association* is a respectable-looking male pharmacist pouring some type of medicine/pills into a jar while an onlooker, in the form of a small lad, gawks at him (to the extent of covering his tiny mouth with a scarf...now that's classic old-fashioned gawking for you).

How truly excellent. It must have been made back in the time when pharmacists were considered everyday superheroes! That's the thing though. They still are!

    No Monet = Mo' Problemz

i have some friends who are visual artists. check out links to their work on the righthand side. but like any artists, and people in general, they have moments of self-doubt and hesitation.

so today i'm saying, o visual artist friends! whenever you feel weak or undernourished creatively, check out the best thing i have ever contributed to visual art in the recent past.
