Creeper for Breakfast, Spinach for Dinner

the joys of living at home:

my dad has a colleague named dr. hong. the hong family is moving out of their house, selling it, and moving somewhere far away. so they're selling all their furniture and decor as well. so my parents bought me all this furniture as well as all these plants and decor, which is now sitting in our house on top of all of our old furniture and decor. we refer to anything recently imported as a piece from the HONG DYNASTY. most of the things look really antique-y anyway so yup, our house is now a museum documenting the artifacts of the hong dynasty. man, they owned a lot of fake plants, they did. FAKE. PLANTS. EVERYWHERE. there was a fake ivy creeper that creeped into my cereal yesterday morning.

i like to eat a crisp spinach salad occasionally for lunch, which usually results in a soggy wilted bed of spinach leaves accompanied by a few dry carrot sticks joyously supplemented with some poor excuse for soy meat. anyway, i usually end up eschewing the salad and buying a sandwich. but my dad, who follows my eating patterns not convincingly but occasionally,
thought he could save some money and bought a 3-lb. bag of spinach the other day. now, 3 lbs. of spinach is a whole LOTTA spinach. spinach leaves don't weigh much so you need to cram a lot of leaves in there to get it to weigh 3 lbs. anyhoo, so my dad made this curry with cheese and peas and spinach on friday. then he made another curry with chickpeas and spinach on saturday. then my mom made a curry with lentils and spinach on sunday. so for dinner yesterday, i had three spinach curries on a bed of raw spinach leaves. and what am i having for lunch today? a wilted spinach salad. and there's STILL
MORE IN THE FRIDGE AT HOME. sometimes costco is a curse and a blessing. what can birth giant nutella jars can just as easily spawn the most spinach you'll ever need or want.

what's next? spinach holiday cookies?

Wow...I don't think I have even envisioned eating that much spinach. Good luck!

Do you know Popeye's theme song?

:-D

P.S. The Hong Dynasty sounds pretty cool ...maybe not the artificial plants so much but the rest.

I'm Popeye the Sailor Man,
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
I'm strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.

I'm one tough Gazookus
Which hates all Palookas
Wot ain't on the up and square.
I biffs 'em and buffs 'em
And always out roughs 'em
But none of 'em gets nowhere.

If anyone dares to risk my "Fisk",
It's "Boff" an' it's "Wham" un'erstan'?
So keep "Good Be-hav-or"
That's your one life saver
With Popeye the Sailor Man.

I'm Popeye the Sailor Man,
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
I'm strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
